Citizen JournalisThe Rural Enterprise Trust in Zimbabwe (RETZ) conducted a training for citizen journalists in Bindura and aims to spread across other provinces with the support of their Consultant and key Facilitator, Jasper Maposa.
The citizen journalism training was held in Bindura which is located in Mashonaland West Province in Zimbabwe. The training was meant to equip citizen journalists with skills and competencies that would see them actively reporting on nutrition and developmental issues in the area riding of the pervasive role of new information and communication technologies.
Participants comprised High school going students, young farmers from the peri-urban areas and Junior Parliamentarians.
In attendance also were duty bearers like the District Administrator, Ministry of Education representative and local councillors. The interface was hailed by stakeholders as a milestone in facilitating accountable, transparent and responsive leadership that is guided by tenets of servant leadership as citizens are thrust at the centre of governance processes in Zimbabwe.
Maposa continues to provide trainings to the Rural Enterprise Trust of Zimbabwe (RETZ).
RETZ Programmes Director Mr Cuthbert Mukora hailed Maposa and promised to make sure that he continues to offer such life changing trainings to other areas in their programming.
