President Emerson Mnangagwa through the Ministry of Information Communications Technology, Postal and Courier Services has donated computers at Chisina School, Nyoka High school and Ganye Secondary School in Gokwe on 12 February.
Gokwe Schools were backward regarding the use of technology because they had no computers and WI-FI for online lessons. This was affecting the pass rates of schools but through this noble gesture from the President, the learning standards and pass rates are guaranteed to be improved.
Giving the speech on behalf of the Minister, ICT Deputy Minister Dingimuzi Phuti said the donations of the computers will go a long way in fulfilling the targets of vision 2030.
“We are here because President Emerson Mnangagwa has sent us to deliver the laptops in schools as a way of fulfilling the vision 2030 which says no one and no place shall be left behind.
“The president identified digital economy that it is one of the major components that should appear on the National development strategy, therefore he is donating laptops and Wi-Fi installation in schools,” said the Deputy Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services Dingimuzi Phuti.
At Nyoka High school they brought 30 Laptops for students and they installed Wi-Fi as instructed by the President. Phuti urged the students at Nyoka School that the Wi-Fi they installed is not for WhatsApp but for E-learning and research.
The parents were happy that their children’s learning Standards will be improved because they will now have access to online lessons.
“We are happy because our children will improve they technological knowledge through these laptops and we appreciate,” Dhlana the village head in Svisvi said.
“We are happy because now we have access to online lessons and no one should drop out of school because he or she has no access to online lessons, because President Mnangagwa gave us these laptops and the Wi-Fi at our school,” said Nonhlanhla Moyo a student from Nyoka High school in Gokwe South.
“I am pleased because the president has improved our children’s knowledge and learning Standards through the Laptops and the use of Wi-Fi,” said Legislator Gordon Chanda of Gokwe South constituency.
